What's on the wall?

I did a $10 quilt last year and I've been working on putting it together. Right now it is resting on my wall.

I have decided that I really like red. It seems to be in every quilt I make. I'm attracted to red everywhere. Maybe it is just that it is so grey and dull outside during the winter, I don't know. And red goes with everything! Red is life. Red grabs your attention. Red is February. Red is love. Red is tulips in a spring garden. Red is on our Canadian Flag! Red mittens.

Red stop signs. Something red in every room makes a statement. Red stimulates. Red is hot! Red is heart!

Red lipstick...well not at my age LOL. My new shade is Loreal's Colour Riche #501...Mauve something or other. Plumps and shines, and makes older lips look young again. Mauve is the new red for us ladies who are 50 plus.

Have a "red" letter day!

Is Love a Fancy...or a Feeling...

"I've never received a single valentine", says Charlie Brown to Lucy. "I'd dogpaddle the entire ocean for you", says Snoopy to his valentine.
I remember the excitement of Valentines Day when I was a kid. We would purchase a little package of paper valentines, spend an evening addressing them, and at school the next day deliver them to our classmates.
The teacher would host a classroom party with cinnamon heart candies and Freshie in little dixie cups. Then we would deliver our valentines to our classmates, depositing them in the brown paper bags taped to the back of the chairs. At the end of the day, each of us took home our little paper bags filled with the paper valentines we had received from our friends.

Do kids still do this? Or are all their valentines sent via cyber space...

There is something special about receiving something you can hold in your hands. It would be fun to purchase one of those little packages of valentines (if they still make them) and send a paper valentine to each of my friends...via snail mail. Maybe next year.

Happy Valentines Day to you, my friend.

Meeting Old Friends

Yesterday while I was out and about, I snuck into Tim Horton's with my mom for a quick coffee. As we entered, she noticed some old friends in a group chatting. Turns out they were friends of my parents when I was a kid, and one of them was my Sunday School teacher. The funny thing is, this person had been on my mind for the last few days. I had wondered what she was up to, and reflecting on her influence in my life, thanking God for the time she dedicated to me and my siblings so long ago. It was a divine appointment, I guess. I left there wondering if that is what it is going to be like in heaven upon arrival...being greeted by loved ones, friends, and acquaintances who have passed through our lives. Wow! I'm looking forward to that!  But I'm here now, and with another cold, Canadian winter day to spend, I'm going to go for a short walk (too cold to be out long!) with Maggie and cultivate a thankful attitude for all those people who have shared a bit of themselves for my benefit.
